As its first project, Rights Here is sharing the stories of people throughout New York City who are transforming the way we build: from Council District 51 in Staten Island, to District 1 in Manhattan.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downtown have sent ripple effects through the city and deepened inequality along racial, economic, and gender lines. Now more than ever it’s important that development decisions center local communities’ needs including adequate housing and public space, that the rights of construction workers are respected, and that the city strengthens resilience – for everyone – to the impacts of climate change.
